Emergency services were called to a major road into Ryde earlier this afternoon (Thursday) following road traffic collision that left a Fiat with significant front end damage.
Police, paramedics and firefighters first rushed to the scene on Binstead Road at around 16:15 following reports of a single vehicle collision near Ryde Golf Club.
At the scene, a Fiat 500 had left the road and careered through a lamppost.
Firefighters from Ryde worked quickly to make the vehicle safe, erecting a cordon around the heavily damaged hatchback.
The occupant of the vehicle was checked over by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and then allowed to go on their way.
Binstead Road was partially blocked for a time but has since reopened.
It is unclear as to how the accident occurred.
