Have you ever thought you might like to have a go at radio? If you are aged 11-18 and hold an Isle of Wight Council Short Breaks Membership card you might like to try the Vectis Radio 4Ps Saturday sessions.
At these sessions you get to prepare a script, record it, edit the audio and prepare it for broadcast or podcast. You also have the opportunity be on the radio live if you would like. The Saturday Short Breaks are subsidised by the council and they cost just £5 per session.
Kelvin Currie, the short breaks trainer & director of Vectis Radio said:
“These sessions are great fun, opening up the world of radio to young people with additional needs and improving their confidence and communication skills in the energetic situation of a live broadcast.”
“If you are not sure if it’s for you, we are holding a no-obligation taster morning on Saturday 5th August at 10:00. Come along and find out if you like it or not.”
The Short Breaks scheme aims to increase activity opportunities for children and young people with disabilities. It provides a break for parents/carers while their child takes part in a safe, fun, and enjoyable activity.
The Short Breaks programme is for children and young people who have a disability or additional needs and may require support to participate in leisure and recreational activities, are no more than 18 years old and live on or attend a school on the Isle of Wight.
