Police on the Isle of Wight have issued an urgent appeal to locate a stolen Ford Focus with the registration A4 UGY.
The car is described as being green/blue in colour. It is a 2001 model Ford Focus.
Officers are appealing for Islanders to dial 999 if they spot this vehicle and are being told not to approach or touch the vehicle in any way.
Island Echo understands the car may have been stolen from Smithards Lane in Cowes at around 08:00, but Hampshire Constabulary are yet to issue any further information about this incident.
UPDATE @ 09:42 – Police have confirmed that the vehicle has now been located.

Desperate!!!
999 for a stolen car?…. Really?
It’ll be for the number plate. The car’s worth F all.
999? For an old banger? Our police have their priorities all wrong…
Can I get a “Breaking news” front page please as I had a used garden shovel stolen (worth about the same as this car) over the Christmas period?
Slow news day IE?
Who on earth would steal a Ford.? Normally they are given away.!!
Can you tell me where they are giving them away Ill grab one quick !!!. I suppose you have never owned a Ford.
Any scrap yard. Or a Ford dealer BOGOF.!! Yes, I have owned a Ford. Nightmare. Went straight back to a Volvo.
I think if you read between the lines it is more than just a stolen car. They said not to touch it in anyway which to me implies it may have something like explosives in it!
Explosives?! More likely evidence for drugs crimes or even a hit and run.
That sounds very plausible
Was it the editors car? 😀
I am guessing…..but thinking the car is needed for evidence in a crime/serious incident…..hence the do not touch it statment
THIS SHOULD BE BREAKING NEWS!!IE AND CP BEEN TOLD BUT NO ONES WANTING TOO PUT IT OUT THERE
on the 18/19th Dec a office staff tested positive for covid AT HOVERTRAVEL!! Female cashier had it
2 pilots..2 crew…and the manager all from ssme shift were sent home.
Boss Neil Chapman has kept it quiet!!!
Direct info from member of staff.so….options on this one guys ?
Everywhere else has been made public and shut down .but Chapman is all about money so all those using hovertravel then and now beware
Are you lot all stupid. Do not approach or touch!!!! So it is not just a stolen car then is it.
Usual to keep people away to preserve any forensic evedince. Difficult to steal an immobiliser fitted car with out keys, stolen or abandoned?
I think it’s because the legal registered owner has probably tested positive.
So don’t touch
I witnessed the car being stolen, the guy was on his way to work at the hospital as he is a nurse and does not deserve to be confronted with a crow bar and threatened outside his house!! Regardless of how much his car is worth !! This shouldn’t be happening!! So it is a police matter and they have done a very good job helping the family !!
