Hot ash left over from a bonfire at the weekend set fire to undergrowth in Ryde earlier this morning (Monday).
1 appliance from Ryde was mobilised to Buckingham Close at 09:18.
The single crew arrived on scene to find a 2-metre wide area of grass and tree cuttings alight.
A hose reel jet was used to dowse the flames and damp down the area, with firefighters spending less than 20 minute at the incident.
A spokesperson from Ryde Fire Station said:
“Ash from a weekend bonfire caused grass and tree cutting sto reignite.
“Today’s fire safety message is to ensure flames and ash are fully oput and cooled before disposing into bins or compost heaps”.
