Firefighters from Shanklin and Ventnor are tackling a tumble dryer fire at a pub on Shanklin Esplanade this afternoon (Sunday).
2 appliances are currently on scene at The Fishermans Cottage having been called out at around 12:40.
It’s been confirmed that the tumble dryer is located on the 1st floor of the property.
The incident is under control and there is no threat to the thatch structure.
UPDATE – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now stood down from the incident.
The fire was contained to the appliance.

Always empty your lint trap people…
Yep, and don’t go out leaving it on.
Second time this has happened at the cottage – think the staff would learn to empty the lint filter!!
I am surprised they are open.
I use to visit this pub on the beach for years, until a few years ago I believe it is run by different people.
I got fed up walking to this pub and they were closed, but they leave the pub light sign on, so in the distance you think they are open.
Will never go there again!
I believe the lady who owns the CHINE still owns the pub, maybe tell the Tenants do not leave the light on giving people false hope.
NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS!
Lights may have been left on for security reasons.
The owner doesn’t give a dam, to her its nothing more than a hobby, she puts managers in and treats them like crap, that’s why the dump keeps changing managers.
We won’t be drinking in there there all on the driers lol
If in doubt suck a fisherman’s friend.
