The Medina Marching Band is celebrating a triumphant appearance at the London Band Week last weekend which saw their Corps of Drums compete in – and win – the Drumline Battle.
All the musicians had been preparing for months for the prestigious event which saw them play alongside other bands including the HM Royal Marines Band CTC, the 280-strong University of Tennessee Bands – Pride of the Southland Band, Brentwood Imperial Marching Band, Burgess Hill Marching Youth Band and the Hertfordshire Show Band.
The band took part in the London Tattoo at the ExCel Centre on Saturday and also a parade at King Henry VIII’s residence at Hampton Court on the Sunday.
Most excitingly, their Corps of Drums also competed in the Drumline Battle, and won against stiff competition.
Kevin Downer, Chairman of the Medina Marching Band said:
“A truly memorable weekend of music, friendship and laughs! Thank you London Band Week!”
