A Wootton man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after he crashed his van into a tree before fleeing the scene last night (Thursday). Police, fire and paramedics were called to Briddlesford Road at around 19:30 last night following reports of a crash. At the scene, a Ford Transit collided with a tree just outside the entrance to the Lynnbottom Household Waste Recycling Centre. The driver didn’t hang around though, and instead decided to make off. Roads Policing Officers, the dog unit, and Armed Response Officers converged on the target who was detained after good work by the Police dog. The individual – a 28-year-old from Wootton was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Blood samples collected have been sent off for testing. This is the 2nd crash that has occurred outside Lynnbottom Tip this week following a head-on collision on Wednesday morning – as previously reported by Island Echo.

Yet another Drugged up or drunk van driver, think the law doesn’t apply to them….
The invincible age group, they think.
Not as hard as the tree apparently.
A person would not flee the scene unless Guilty,
another island Numpty.
Bang them up.
If convicted crush the vehicle, its the only way these selfish clowns MAY take notice of the potential consequences for law abiding people they are putting at risk.
Unfortunately these idiots usially walk away from the collisions, the innocent DO NOT!!!!!!!
Armed Response Unit? Did they just happen to be passing?
Normally have to wait at least 4 days for the armed police proberly longer now with all the red funnel cancellations
We do have a Mosque nearby So be grateful our Police are armed, all only a question of time, so if you value your children or grandchildren then see it as a positive.
Don’t tell me Tommy Robinson is your messiah ?and would you be brave enough for your mum and dad to see these comments ?…trying to be older than your years just makes you a slightly bugged up in head Teenager!!don’t bluster the foam just spread over your bedspread from your milkshake
Wise precaution, you just don’t know who your dealing with these days !!!
The armed response unit is multi role, also dealing the road incidents and is often on patrol responding to various incidents. This role has been around for several years.
Probably the nearest available unit at the time.
They are part of RPU (Roads Policing Unit) so they would deal with this sort of thing and not just firearms incidents, hope this helps with your question.
Why vote down when this is a fact, spoken from experience and not guess work.
All drink drivers need banging up
NO EXCUSES
