Firefighters have been tackling another fire in the open near to the train tracks on the outskirts of Ryde this evening (Bank Holiday Monday).
1 appliance and the Land Rover 4×4 from Ryde were mobilised at 17:53 to reports of a small fire near Whitefield Woods, which was seen from the Island Line train.
Fire crews headed to Brading where they boarded the train towards Ryde, providing access to the scene of the fire. Ryde’s retained crew had to utilise the unusual form of transport last night too.
The service’s Land Rover was later used to access a bridleway off Ashey Road to collect equipment used to tackle the fire, which is said to have been located on the west side of the railway network.
Fire Control has confirmed that the incident involved semi-waste materials and brambles. Crews extinguished the fire with assistance from the land owner and his digger.
Island Line trains ran at a reduced speed whilst the incident was dealt with by the fire service.

And once ryde is filled with over 1,500 new homes with treble that amount people filling such, then imagine the work for the busy fire crew then.
Arson will extend to Whitefield woods which is abutting the site, as the young steal and trash motor cycles around it. Stolen cars, and dealers fighting for trade will try to burn one another’s homes. This is what this part of the Island will be like within a decade or so.
The mainland is not like it is on large estates because ‘it’s over there’, it is awash with such crime because of the tenants within the provided homes there.
Sadly many will be filling the new builds in Ryde, as the c ouncil here will be well paid to take in such.
So, this really is the good times. Once built and filled to capacity we will be longing to have these times back again, but, they will be gone, forever.
Spot on Henrick, life will take a very serious unrecoverable downturn when built and filled in so many ways.
The world must be so scary for you, all this change………………….
The island is heading towards becoming a crime infested concrete hell hole, wellcome to the future, uneducated, drug dealing, fenefit culture, baby making, chav mentality low life..
As the far lefties will say, it’s so enriching and diverse, we are so lucky..
Semi waste material is incorrect – it was green waste from forest clearance such as bramble.
With such difficult location and access, it would make more sense it was the landowner burning off his green waste 😀
Get rid of the trains, tarmac it over one day be serious fire or accidents, and no trains will be available. Heaps of shit
