A tractor has been completely destroyed following a fire in a field in Wootton earlier today (Wednesday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was first called at around 12:00, following reports of a tractor well ablaze in a field off Lower Woodside Road.
Pumping appliances from Newport and Ryde, as well as a water carrier from Ventnor, rushed to the rural scene.
Island Echo readers reported seeing thick black smoke fill the sky.
Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. The extent of the fire has completely gutted the tractor.
It is unclear if anyone was inside when the fire broke out.
Crews stood down and returned to station at around 14:00.
