Cowes Town Council says it is disappointed to have to use its resources on addressing vandalism in the town.
Earlier this week, 3 public conveniences in Cowes were subjected to vandalism which included blocked toilets, emptied sanitary bins, broken toilet roll holders and extensive spray painting on the walls and windows.
The facilities at Mornington Road and The Parade are owned and managed by Cowes Town Council, with Northwood House Charitable Trust Co. Ltd having ownership of the toilets within Northwood Park.
Cowes Mayor, Councillor Stuart Ellis, has said:
“It is disappointing that we are having to waste Town Council resources on cleaning up mindless vandalism within our town.
“We would rather be spending Town Council resources on bringing forward new projects that bring about improvements to the town.
“We are working on a project to improve The Cut area with a new Living Wall, new seating and planting and also on plans to refurbish the toilets at The Parade. That’s where we want to be focusing our resources, not on cleaning up after vandals.”

Filthy dirty scum bastards..of course wont be caught or dealt with.
This is because you are not addressing the vandalism in the proper way, like tagging and putting curfews on the low life scum responsible. Instead, you are allowing the do gooders and hand wringers to interfere and stopping it from happening. Until someone grows a pair, and tells these out of touch farts to do one, not a thing will change, and these ferral brats know it. They are laughing in your faces.
Be interesting to see how much the council spend on repairing public toilets due to vandalism? Lets say it was in the region of £50k per year….why not employ a couple of “attendants” to man the worse hit ones over night?
If you are spending the money on fixing it after the effect why not use that money to stop it in the first place?
Where are the CCTV?every other town in UK has a system up and running cutting down on anti social behaviour,oh no we did have then the Council in yet another moment of blinding intelligence pulled plug on the funding!! And it was never reinstated maybe a better way to spend Councils and our money!.
Camera’s are scarce on the island. I don’t think
they can afford the extortionate ferry fares to reach
the island.
CCTV should be rolled out islandwide and so should
speed camera’s.
That is the only way to catch the B’stards.
So you can watch people indulge in mindless vandalism? How will thta help?
What is it with gratuitous destruction? Do some morons actually get a thrill out of this? I pity them.
