hampshireconstabularylogoPolice are investigating the theft of tools worth £3000 from a Ford Transit van in Ryde overnight, as well as thefts from a number of other vans across the Island.

The owner of the Transit in Ryde, which was parked in Simeon Street, discovered the rear door of the vehicle unlocked and a number of Dewalt tools missing upon rising this morning (Friday). The tools are said to be engraved or marked with ‘SP’.

Several other vans in the Binstead and Carisbrooke areas are also reported to have been broken into overnight, sparking fears of a repeat of earlier this year when Transit vans across the Island were targeted.

It has previously been said that a special ‘key’ has been used to gain access to the vehicles, leaving no signs of forced entry.

Anyone who sees anything suspicious, or has information relating to the thefts, is asked to call Police on 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
