80s TV legend Timmy Mallett travelled across the Solent to the Isle of Wight this morning (Friday) as part of his challenge to circumnavigate Britain on a solo cycling and painting tour of the country, covering 4,000 miles in just 100 days.
Timmy has been inspired by artists Turner and Constable who couldn’t travel to Europe 200 years ago because of the dictator Napoleon. He’s hoping to inspire British residents to discover the beauty of their own country by taking Staycations this year and spreading positivity about our brilliant coastline.
Despite the sunny weather, there were no yellow polka dot bikinis to be seen on the 09:15 Wightlink catamaran from Portsmouth to Ryde. Timmy arrived at Ryde Pier at 09:45 and is now cycling across the Island to Yarmouth, painting scenes along the way. He’ll then cross back to the mainland to continue his journey around Britain.

Google says never in jail. Or is that a reference to his time in the jungle? Maybe you’re assuming that because he was a children’s entertainer and male that he was doing something horrid. No again, he is an honest bloke. Shame people like JS cast such a dark cloud over children’s entertainment.
