The owners behind The Hut at Colwell Bay are taking over at another eatery in the West Wight – Salty’s Bar and Restaurant. AKA Restaurants are to lease the premises on Quay Street from Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners, following the Statutory Harbour Authority’s purchasing of the building. Located just metres from the harbour estate, Salty’s achieved AA rosette awards for culinary excellence in both 2022 and 2023. Current owners Ed and Melanie Panek have been in charge of Salty’s since 2020, but they have announced they have sold up due to ‘health issues’. Taking to their Facebook page, Salty’s has said:
“We have certainly enjoyed having you, our customers, share in our fun & foodie journey (albeit, our journey included a devastating fire!) to where we are today. Our goal has always been to give you a fantastic food and service experience, all with a fun & lively coastal vibe, featuring great music & entertainment.”
A spokesperson from AKA Restaurants, has said:
“We’re thrilled to be the new tenants of such a longstanding Yarmouth institution, Salty’s has always been a fun filled, family friendly meeting hotspot for sailors and locals, with live music, cold beer and good vibes. We will strive to keep this going with a little Italian twist… watch this space.”
It is unclear when Salty’s – under its new ownership – will reopen once again.
