Severe fog has forced the suspension of all Red Funnel sailings and is causing delays and cancellations on Wightlink’s services this morning (Sunday).
Red Funnel has halted all vehicle ferry and Red Jet sailings until further notice due to the adverse weather conditions.
The operator says its teams are continuously assessing conditions, with further updates to follow when available. Customers are advised to check before travelling.
Wightlink is reporting delays of up to 40 minutes on its Portsmouth–Fishbourne car ferry route, while FastCat services between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head are delayed by up to 15 minutes.
On the Lymington–Yarmouth route, the 06:05 departure from Lymington and the 06:55 sailing from Yarmouth have been cancelled.
Wightlink has apologised for the disruption and says it will keep passengers updated throughout the morning.
The disruption follows the weather warning yesterday that dense fog could affect cross-Solent services. IW Met Service issued an advisory covering 01:00 until 10:00 today (8th November), warning that visibility could fall below 100 metres in places.
Passengers planning to cross the Solent this morning should check with their operator before setting off.
