Thorntons in Newport is to close its doors for good on 19th November, it has been confirmed.
The chocolate shop and cafe situated on the High Street will close next month, 3 years after it’s sister store in Ryde also closed.
The news means that the Island will no longer have a Thorntons store, with the nearest being in Southampton or Portsmouth.
A spokesperson for Thorntons has today (Friday) briefly said:
“We can confirm that the Thorntons store in Newport, Isle of Wight will be closing.
“Our customers will be able to visit our other stores nearby in Portsmouth and Southampton”.
This week a legal notice was placed on the door of the Mexican-themed hotel tequila bar, El Patron. The business has closed, striking a double blow for Newport.
