Theatretrain students took part in the Isle of Wight Dance Drama and Music Festival last weekend and achieved some amazing results.
Vocal Coach – Hannah Caudle – entered her private students into 37 categories, including a number of solo and duet classes, but she also took the main Theatretrain groups along and competed in the Vocal Theatre Group classes.
Elsie-Marie Moody was the youngest person to enter the music festival. She sang Castle on a cloud and got an amazing 87 marks – distinction – 2nd place, whilst the group’s youngest students (TT minis) also entered and won their class.
Lilly Valvona won the 14-18 years Rap class, singing Superbass.
When awarding her trophy, adjudicator Bryan Husbands told the audience that he had given Lilly the highest mark he’s given throughout the course of the festival – 90 marks, which falls in the ‘outstanding’ category. Her feedback sheet said her performance was “faultless”.
Lilly’s brother, Fred Valvona, won all his categories, except one. This is his last year competing before he goes off to drama school and he has been a TT students and singing student of Hannah’s since he was 7. He is now 17. He has been competing for 10 years. The only class he came second in was rap when his sister beat him. They are so supportive of each other.
On the results, Hannah said:
“I am so proud of all of my students! They have worked so hard in the lead up to this festival! Some of them competing in over 10 categories all whilst taking Singing exams and studying for GCSEs/A Levels, auditioning for Drama Schools and attending professional castings”.
