Tesco is making it easier than ever for shoppers to give a helping hand to food banks and charities providing aid to people on the Isle of Wight this summer.
The Freshwater Superstore and Ryde Extra store have been selected to take part in the special 6-week trial. They will be offering pre-filled donation bags available for customers to buy and donate to the charities FareShare and the Trussell Trust.
The bags will contain items that are most needed by local foodbanks and charities. Customers will also get additional opportunities over the Summer to round up their bill at the checkout to make it even easier to offer financial support.
Bags are available in stores until Sunday 3rd September, alongside every Tesco store’s permanent collection point where customers can donate long-life food items all year round. The option to round up at the Isle of Wight stores’ tills is available to customers until 6th August and then again from 28th August to 3rd September.
Tesco Head of Community Claire de Silva said:
“We’re really proud of our partnerships with FareShare and the Trussell Trust and we want to continue to find ways to help them.”
“With many food banks struggling to meet the rising levels of need, more people using food banks we wanted to make donating as easy as possible for customers that want to support their community. The donation bags will be available throughout the summer holidays, so it allows a real focus on families and children who need support.”
Donations are more important than ever as the charities have reported an increasing need demand for food.
Polly Hoffman, Head of Retail at FareShare, said:
“The need for FareShare food has been rising rapidly as a result of the cost-of-living crisis, and will continue to do so throughout the summer holidays when more families rely on these vital local services to feed themselves and their loved ones.”
“At a time when millions of people are going hungry, the donations we receive from generous Tesco customers is absolutely vital for the charities and community groups we provide food to. That’s why we’re thrilled that Tesco is making it even easier for people to support FareShare by introducing donation bags in store this summer.”
Emma Revie, CEO at the Trussell Trust, added:
“We are extremely grateful to Tesco for once again providing innovative new ways for their customers to support our network of more than 1,300 food bank centres. Over the last year, food banks have faced record levels of need and, while donations have increased by 18%, our network distributed 37% more emergency food parcels than in 2021-2022.”
“The generosity of Tesco and its customers plays a vital role in ensuring that food banks can continue to support people who cannot afford the essentials, as we continue working towards our vision of ending the need for food banks.”

Tesco could help customers by reducing their over inflation
Prices.
Mark, and OUR Government could help our nation by returning every illegal boatload to wherever the closest dna swab showed they truly belong
Yet neither will happen as it is easier to just push the burden onto the workers to stealth tax or in Tesco’s case add ‘a little extra’ to each item to cover spongers and shop lifters as the Police can’t jail them as prisons full of the dingy flotsam and lorry stowaways as well as our own growing criminal trash now.
OMG… give it a rest…. not every post has to be brought back to immigration. Change the record!
Sadly some events cause diverse and long lasting damage, such as Covid, War, and massive amounts of illegals.
So with the BBC doing such a great job of brainwashing the dim of accepting the ruination of their standard of living, rent and house price increases, massive rise in sexual and violent crimes, acres of land needing to be built upon killing wildlife, more energy needed, more water, sewage landfill, schools doctors, hospitals, money etc etc, even to the point of having gangs rape JUST young white girls, such has far reaching implications for many issues now clearly affecting people, and so needs to be pointed out, as the authorities and media can no longer do so and hush a lot up.
True info is all I give for balance
You first post wasn’t exactly balanced. The media story is about food donations yet the first place you go is blame the immigrants.
You would have to be a complete moron not to understand that this country is facing many problems (immigration being one of them), but the method you use to get this point across will only insight hate and how can that be good?
This is not true, I have no desire to insight hate, as we all know there is good and bad people in every culture.
The problem is the type that are coming are already willing to break the law by arriving illegally, so hardly proving that they will be great citizens.
The NUMBERS are the problem. IF all the ex Brits came back by the same number as these people it would cause massive strain on the country. BUT the big difference is, most of the Brits who leave, and return will do so with enough cash to fund their home , with the right skills to be useful workers, many with pensions fund the economy, and almost all can fit into society as they ARE truly British so their children don’t need extra costly help etc etc
And commenting on here will achieve what exactly?
It will provide those with a less closed, or less brainwashed minds, into seeing that the media, who since the race card has been made more powerful that the right to freedom of speech in the UK, can, no longer say anything even slightly negative about the ills of such, and so I try to redress the balance.
Much news of the awful crimes many commit are down played and as we now see any stabbing, rape, acid attack etc now rarely mentions the colour of the perpetrator unless white.
Surely you can imagine IF the Rotherham and Rochester cases had been white gangs choosing only black children to gang rape, then the news would never leave our screens and BBC progs would still be on about it, and new race rape laws would be made.
Why would I want to donate food to a bunch of doses that have more disposable income than me and I work.
Spot on John.
And they have all the week off, and some work 16 short hours to get max tax credits, so get FIVE days off each week to enjoy their lives, then expect US to not only ‘fund’ their rent, c. tax, health care and thousand a year in child tax credits but now ‘feed them’ as well.
So they get even more money to waste on beer, fags, drugs, lashes, nails, and enjoying life.
Many are very unpleasant people and play loud music late at night as no work, and their kids are often the most anti social
IF they can’t afford it should use free contraception or abort.
Disgusting parasite and by giving just giving the message to their offspring to do the same, until we can’t feed them all and society breaks down.
Give NOTHING.
Think of the children John. Those little darlings who (not all) may be vandalising your property, bad mouthing you, stealing from shops adding to our bills, but of course they will grow up and then perhaps be mugging you, and most will be breeding from puberty upward to ensure the demand for ‘free’ everything’ grows ever greater a burden onto us as we age.
Likely a packet of Condoms would not be used, as easier to keep that womb full and keep the state charity,, funded by us rolling in.
Rather give to the Donkey’s home, they likely have better breeding and know no better.
Many feel that giving to someone who whinges their poor makes that person, often hard up themselves, “feel” richer.
The squeakiest wheel gets the most oil, and with the constant help from the media, the squeak never leaves our ears and eyes.
Yet most of us who “know” this sort soon understand that many don’t have to pay for housing costs or health care. So the very generous amount given to them just for bringing into their impoverished world another mouth for us to feed is a joke, especially when they have free meals at school as well most days.
The parent oft pretends to be ‘single’ to up the payments, yet few sleep alone hence the constantly re-filled womb.
Few are grateful as now they see it as weakness not kindness
It is funny how people accepting free food seem to have really expensive phones and clothes, woman with full makeup, hair and nails done… Perhaps just prioritise where you spend your benefits and you won’t need handouts.
Not so much funny, as that is how these leaches live as well as they do.
They spend everything on themselves first and foremost, then they KNOW the dim, gullible public will provide food, shelter, clothing for the numerous clones they shell out, so they get what they want from their huge tax credit income with no rent or ctax to pay, and have a lovely life.
YET if they paid for all their childrens food, clothes, uniforms, school trips meals, etc then FEW would fund their long nails, longer eyelashes, new phones and tv’s and cars, So they KNOW EXACTLY what they are doing, make NO mistake on that score.
Those claiming free handouts are already well paid via benefits in the form of child tax credits, working tax credits or universal credit to need free food handouts.
These people get many thousands a year, often more than working people YET only pay heavily subsidised rent & council tax, and many pay NONE whatsoever.
They get free school meals, extra help with food and heating, all the family get free dental care and prescriptions and many get free mobility car if having a child, as many do, with some syndrome if abusing drink or drugs when in pregnancy.
So they are getting far far too much now and a bad lesson for their children to get even more for doing nothing other than adding more burdens onto working people.
I imagine a few of these child bearing lazy parasites are already ‘making it easier’ for Tesco by helping themselves to food, alcohol and anything else they can to then claim five finger (six in the case of Wroxall) discount upon.
Also likely helping the environment too, as never use plastic carriers as provisions all shoved inside a coat, trousers, under a hat, or in other more discreet places.
Many of these kind take enough from us as it is, are taxes are higher, our council tax bill ever larger paying for those who are supposedly ‘hard up’ yet have more income as mentioned and less real expenditure than most others in life.
Sooner give to the elderly who likely find it hard now
Tesco around london have ulez cameras installed in tesco carparks
Do they install colour or black and white film in these cameras?
Surely by now everything is digital, so can’t understand why the need to remove the huge yellow Police speed cameras as a small digital unit would beem live coverage as well as capture frames to show up speeding cars.
Most odd
