Hundreds of households across the Isle of Wight have seen their Tesco home delivery orders cancelled without notice this afternoon (Friday) due to a major technical glitch.
Those expecting deliveries after 13:00 are now finding that all orders have been cancelled and cannot be rescheduled.
The UK’s largest supermarket says that a nationwide technical issue means it has been unable to fulfil orders as expected.
One angry householder in Ryde has said:
“I’ve waited in for over 90 minutes and still no one from Tesco has arrived, nor have I had an email or text to explain the situation. I only found out when I called the customer care line.
“I knew something was amiss as I didn’t get a receipt emailed to me this morning, which is unusual”.
Those with orders due for this afternoon and this evening have not been charged, nor have orders been rescheduled. It’s unclear when the problem will be resolved.
Tesco has yet to comment on the matter but it appears new orders will have to be made for delivery on another day – or a visit in-store will be on the cards.

Technical issue. To really mess things up you can rely on a computer!
Yes, technology is at fault here…. for causing issues exclusively to ONLINE orders that wouldn’t be possible in the first place without technology. Boo computers.
Every little helps !!
shock horror – actually have to go to the shop and pick/pack it yourself, then carry it home – just like people have done for hundreds of years and most of us still do
Your comment is no help to those who cannot go to the shop like most.
Exactly, although I see some benefits for this service , as anything computerised every now and then breaks down. Get your shopping bags and do like we did for years . I get so angry when families with more than two cars use this service when a care facility I work in have to rely on other supermarkets as no slots available, so totally agree go and do your shopping like many others have to.
The service is there that’s why people use it
Yes! boo hoo
No good getting angry! That’s why shouldn’t take things for granted,if this was a cyber attack it’s not Tesco fault. With way things are in the world, sad to say might be more computer issues to come , power outage/internet down etc.
Cyber attack no doubt.
Computerised procedures can, and do, go wrong, and the bigger they are the harder it is to provide a manual back up. In many cases impossible
I’ve given up shopping at Tesco.
I shopped there last week,at about 10am and there seemed to be more members of staff with the big trollies they use to pick online orders, than shoppers.
I had to use a big trolley myself just for protection.
How ever did we live before , amazes me how life existed before technology and these services became available. I guess the saying every little helps doesn’t apply in this case
What a Balls up by the so called number 1 Supermarket
I think it’s terrible.
Well the world is coming to a end can’t get your shopping delivery might have to go to the shop and carry it home lol
