A 14-year-old and 15-year-old who were arrested following a serious assault and burglary in Sandown last week have been released on bail whilst investigations into the incident continue.
As first reported by Island Echo, it was at around 02:30 on the 28th May when 2 individuals forced entry into Browns, off Culver Parade.
The duo spent around 45 minutes searching around inside the popular seaside café before making their way across the golf course with bags full of stolen alcohol and cash.
It’s after this break-in that it’s alleged that 2 males and a local man in his 40s became involved in an altercation.
Shockingly, the male was stabbed and sustained a puncture wound to his back. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The following day, as part of their enquiries, officers detained a 14-year-old boy from Newport on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and burglary.
A week later, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that a 15 year-old boy from Sandown has also been arrested on suspicion of burglary, assault, harassment without violence and wounding with intent.
Both of the teens have been released on conditional bail until 28th August whilst enquiries continue.
Why have they been released on bail if they have stabbed someone? They should be behind bars?
That is in a country with real rules.

When kids of this age are out committing this sort of crime all over the country, and worse, you know you are the pits.

For such a vicious crime I have never understood why
persons are given bail, what’s stopping them doing the
