Jumping in a taxi will soon become more expensive following the approval by the Isle of Wight Council to raise fares by 10p a mile.
Those travelling from A to B on the Isle of Wight between 08:00 in the morning and 20:00 at night will soon be hit by the price increase of 10p a mile, as well as a 50p increase in the initial pick up.
The Isle of Wight Council’s licencing committee approved the proposals at a meeting last night (Monday).
Those using a Hackey Carriage cab from South Street in Newport to Ryde Esplanade – a journey of around 7 miles – will cost £1.20 more. A journey from Bembridge to Freshwater would cost £2.60 more.
