UPDATED: Police have closed off the front entrance of St Mary’s Hospital this afternoon (Sunday) following the discovery of a suspicious package underneath a Doctor’s car.
Members of the public are being diverted away from the entrance to the hospital whilst a specialist officer assesses the situation.
Some areas have been evacuated as a precaution.
UPDATE @ 16:40 – The suspicious package – a carrier bag of takeaway rubbish – has been declared safe and disposed off in a nearby receptacle.
Members of the public are once again permitted to enter the hospital through the main entrance.
