A man who was found trying to push his car out of a ditch near Calbourne has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
Officers were out on patrol during the early hours of this morning (Monday) when they came across a vehicle just off Calbourne Road (Middle Road).
The driver of the silver BMW 3-Series convertible was trying to push the vehicle out of a ditch after ‘stopping to have a wee’ at the side of the road.
Suspicions were aroused leading Police to carry out 2 roadside tests – 1 for alcohol and the other for drugs. Although the alcohol breath test was clear, the driver failed a drugs wipe and was swiftly arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of cannabis and/or cocaine.
The currently unnamed male driver was taken into custody at Newport Police Station, where he remains for questioning this morning.
Smack head while driving/ bmw driver/ equals pure scum
Anyone caught driving whilst being influenced by drugs need to be jailed. They can easily wreck not a car, but someone’s entire life.
Imagine if they killed an innocent parent. A child’s life would be ruined, forever.
It is only luck, not judgement this low life never hit another car.
The courts should see this, and not lessen any sentence ‘because of luck’ was on ‘their side’
IF our jails were not filled with even worse rubbish than shouldn’t even be here, then meaningful sentences could be given to our own trash.
Not just a parent all lives matter.
Well at least it wasn’t an Audi
Seems he was coming from the left, to turn left and never made it… Stopping to have a pee? He’s taking the piss LOL
Funny how drunks and druggies drive clapped out old BMW series 3
Hopefully they will get banned for a long time. And probably West Wight will be a far safer place now this lunatic is off the roads. I passed this car half in the hedgerow going to work this morni g. if it’s the same one the owner used the roads around freshwater as a race track drove like a complete and utter lunatic. Luckily they didn’t injure or worse kill someone hopefully the police will throw the book at them
