Sunshine Radio is providing 24-hour, 7-day-a-week programming tailored to patients at St Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight, offering entertainment and companionship at the bedside.
The local station, which is a registered charity (No. 263151) and a member of the national Hospital Broadcasting Association, operates with the goal of serving hospitals, residential homes, and patients receiving community care across the Isle of Wight.
Patients at St. Mary’s Hospital can access Sunshine Radio free of charge via channel 1 on the Hospedia bedside terminals. The service is also available online through the Sunshine Radio website, TuneIn Radio, and Amazon Alexa. Apps are accessible via Windows PCs and laptops, Apple and Android devices, and Amazon smart speakers.
Sunshine Radio is powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, with roles ranging from presenting and programming to administration, engineering, and assisting patients with technology. The station is currently welcoming new volunteers to join its community team.
