Isle of Wight locals and tourists flocked in their thousands to the streets of Sandown to savour the spectacle of the 1st carnival of 2023 on Saturday (29th July).
Sandown Children’s Carnival came before the main procession, with local youngsters entertaining the crowds with plenty of eye-catching and imaginative entries.
The main procession included a multitude of floats with varied and unusual themes, characters in colourful costumes and a selection of marching bands.
The carnival had a hint of Rio de Janeiro as it wound its way through the crowded streets of the seaside town with many participants donning vibrant Brazilian costumes.
Did you take part or watch the carnival? See if you can spot yourself or someone you know in the gallery below.
The next carnival due to take place is Shanklin Main on Wednesday evening, but weather conditions are not looking favourable – which could lead to a decision to cancel the event much like Newport Main.

The Road Closures were all over the place,
