The gifts from the “Twelve Days of Christmas” have escaped from the song and are exploring the shop windows in Cowes.
With its myriad quirky and individual shops, Cowes is a great place to find gifts, so, why not visit the town, do some shopping and join us on this fun quest? It’s suitable for all ages.
Holly Medland, a storyteller based in Cowes said:
“The Island Storytellers have done some detective work and have created a list of all the shops where they might be hiding. You can pick up copies of this list at Cowes Library, Spence Willard or download a copy from the website somewhen.org.uk
“We are calling on all the people of Cowes and the rest of the Island to help us locate the gifts.
“If you are not sure what the characters will look like, there are photographs of the figurines on the Somewhen Storytelling website.”
When you have found as many characters as you can, return your entry form to Cowes Library or Spence Willard by 28th December 2024 for a chance to win a prize!
Another Island Storyteller, Sue Bailey, said:
“Coincidentally, the Island Storytellers are doing two performances of stories connected to the gifts in the song ‘The twelve days of Christmas’ at Cowes Library.
“The first is 11:00 to 12:00 on Saturday 14th December and the second is 14:00 to 15:00 on Saturday 21st December. There will be tales about swans, golden rings, drummers, hens and more.
“So, if you have spotted any, or all the figures, come and tell us, and join in the celebration of this timeless song.”
Entry is by donation, on the door, of something (such as cans, cookies, crackers or cash) to the IW foodbank.
