Southern Vectis is marking The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a very special bus, which will run across the Isle of Wight for the whole of June.
Sporting a stylish gold, purple and platinum design, the bus commemorates Her Majesty’s outstanding 70 years as Queen of the UK and Commonwealth realms across the world.
Andrew Wickham, Southern Vectis managing director, says:
“We wanted to create something special to celebrate this incredible moment in time – with the entire country set to join in the festivities over the Jubilee weekend.
“So, we took an one of our buses and transformed it. I think the end result is eye-catching and very stylish – something Her Majesty would approve of, I’m sure.
“We hope those living in and visiting the Isle of Wight will enjoy seeing the bus out-and-about – and of course travelling on it as it makes its way across the island.
“With many people here expected to want to ride on the bus, we will send notifications via social media, to announce which route it will be on each day.
“The Jubilee weekend is set to bring a massive celebration across the nation, after what has been a very challenging couple of years. And our team is standing by to provide transport so that people can leave their cars at home and travel safely and in style, however they plan to mark this special occasion.”

Instead of wasting money on this bus, why don’t Vectis reduce their fares on their ordinary buses!
Well it’s all round to Kevin’s for the Jubilee celebrations as it sounds like he is entering into the spirit of the event. Well done to Vectis for their efforts and what an absolutely amazing looking bus, as if the cost would have covered a reduction in fares, I don’t think so.

If it runs on the 37 route,it won’t be in service on Sundays or bank holidays and not after 1700 hours!!
And if it was on the 35 route, it wouldn’t have run since 2015!
I take it its free?or similar too normal prices as surely theyre not trying too cash in like others over here?
Why only for June? Having gone to the trouble and expense of decorating this bus, why not keep it in the jubilee livery for longer? I myself as a regular visitor to the Island would have liked to see it, as I am sure many other visitors would. I will be visiting in July, so will miss out.
it will be moving around the go south coast franchises, so more bus, Bluestar, Salisbury reds etc.
And how much did that cost? What a joke.
Be fair, it probably didn’t cost as much as it does for Southern Vectis to send some of their buses to Africa.
