SOUTH KOREA’S BLACK EAGLES FLY OVER THE ISLE OF WIGHT EN ROUTE TO AIR TATTOO

There was an unusual sight above Cowes earlier this morning (Wednesday) when South Korea’s Black Eagles display team flew overhead.

8x T-50B jets belonging to the 53rd Air Demonstration Group of the Republic of Korea Air Force roared West to East over Cowes and East Cowes whilst en route to RAF Fairford – via Sussex and Kent. They even put on their red and blue tail smoke as they passed overhead.

It’s the first time the Far East team – South Korea’s equivalent of the Red Arrows – have visited the UK in 10 years and only the second time they have visited Europe.

The Black Eagles set off from Boscombe Down in Wiltshire early doors before travelling in formation along the South Coast passing the Isle of Wight, Brighton and Dover. The jets then went inland to Leeds Castle and Canterbury before heading South again passing Beachy Head and Arundel, then inland to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

The Black Eagles will be displaying at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford between 15th-17th July. They will also be appearing at the Farnborough International Airshow between 18th-22nd July.
