Southern Water is reminding its customers across the Isle of Wight of the support available to them as many costs jump this week.
Although Southern Water’s combined bills are going down, many other household expenses are going up at the start of the financial year.
The utility company, which provides water and wastewater services across the Island, offers a range of support to customers going through tough times – including payment holidays, special tariffs and tailored payment plans. They also offer support and extra help for those living with long-term illness, disability, the elderly and even new parents or parents with young children, who along with others, are entitled to join the Priority Service Register (PSR).
Katy Taylor, Chief Customer Officer, says:
“If you’re finding it hard to pay your bills due to the surging costs-of-living or for any other reason, our message remains: ‘Please get in touch with us because we can help. Ring us or visit https://www.southernwater.co.uk/account/help-paying-your-bill’”
Southern Water currently provides over 126,000 customers across its region with some form of financial assistance, an increase of 21,000 since the start of the pandemic. Last year it provided over £12.5 million worth of support.
Saving water can also help reduce bills and the company also offer a free water-saving home visit, where one of its engineers could fit up to £100 of water-saving devices in a customer’s home.
In February, Southern Water announced that the average combined household bill for water and wastewater treatment services would be falling by £5 a month (1.3%). This was the 4th year in a row that its bills have fallen in real terms (adjusted for inflation) and the second year that our combined bills will be lower in absolute terms.

Yeah right. A friend of mine rented a property and found out after he moved on the meter was faulty. He ended up with a massive bill and Southern Water refused to waive it even though they knew they had overcharged him. Instead they offered a payment plan of 10% every month. Robbers the lot of them.
when are we getting back the money there were told to pays us by the courts ?
I will believe it when I see it in my next bill, still way too expensive on standing charges, my in and out of water = approx £20 for 6 months my actual bill is nearly £100, that’s £80 standing charges what a rip off
