UPDATED: Thousands of households across the Isle of Wight are without internet connectivity this weekend due to a major outage with Sky’s Fibre service.
The issue began shortly before 15:00 yesterday afternoon (Saturday) and engineers have been working on resolving the situation since. However, 21 hours later and customers are still unable to access the internet and some cannot make or receive calls.
It is understood a break in the main fibre optic cable is to blame for the downtime, which is also affecting Wokingham on the mainland.
The latest update from Sky is that engineers are on site and are working to replace the broken cable. No estimated time of completion has been given.
UPDATE @ 18:07 – Sky’s service has now been restored to customers across the Island
