Major disruption on Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service is set to continue following the firm’s announcement that a revised timetable is to be in operation until next Friday. The cross-Solent travel operator has had issues with both Red Eagle and Red Osprey this week. Yesterday (Thursday) – as a result of issues on the duo of Raptor-class vessels – delays of between 4-5 hours were experienced, owing to a voith issue on Red Eagle and a sewage issue on Red Osprey. It seems as though the issues onboard Red Osprey have been fixed, however, delays are set to continue throughout today (Friday) – on what is the final day of Cowes Week 2024 – as Red Funnel looks to claw back the lost time. Boats this morning are currently running at around 1-2 hours delayed, however, it is expected as the day goes on, that significant delays – of up to 4 hours – will be seen once again. It is understood that those heading off the Island as well as those coming to the Island, have been forced to make major amendments to their holiday plans. A Red Funnel spokesperson has said:
“Our teams are working closely with the voith manufacturers on a repair plan, however, in the meantime we will have to operate a revised timetable from 2nd – 9th August. “If you would prefer to cancel your sailing and seek an alternative, or amend to another day, use our amend/cancellation page.”
The revised timetable Dept Southampton: Friday: 03:00 / 06:00 / 07:00 / 09:00 / 10:00 / 12:00 / 13:00 / 15:00 / 16:00 / 18:00 / 19:00 / 21:00 / 22:00 / 23:59 Saturday-Thursday: 03:00 / 06:00 / 07:00 / 09:00 / 10:00 / 12:00 / 13:00 / 15:00 / 16:00 / 18:00 / 19:00 / 22:00 / 23:59 Dept East Cowes: Friday: 01:30 / 04:30 / 07:30 / 08:30 / 10:30 / 11:30 / 13:30 / 14:30 / 16:30 / 17:30 / 19:30 / 20:30 / 22:30 / 23:30 Saturday: 01:30 / 04:30 / 07:30 / 08:30 / 10:30 / 11:30 / 13:30 / 14:30 / 16:30 / 17:30 / 19:30 / 20:30 / 23:30

Apologies for totally screwing your life up.
Are the sailings listed those cancelled or those running?
They are the new times they are running
Apologies for destroying tourism on the island and making life for islanders who need to get to the mainland so difficult, at the same time charging us a fortune for the privilege.
Where are the MPs and councilors?
Where are the pictures of the gridlock at East cowes?
Should have voted reform. Labour adding more arrivals to our population to increase mayhem on our crowded roads and transport infrastructure.
Think next time
Voting Deform would have done nothing to help the situation. Constantly stirring up the ‘fear of mass migration’ and spreading falsehoods about labour does nothing to help your cause and just shows how short sighted your view is.
Oink oink!! The piggy top brass and shareholders don’t care as long as they have their snouts in the financial troughs!! They will keep milking it at the expense of the travelling public who have no choice but to accept the diabolical farce of a service.
Yes, well, as I said its the time when people are planning a break away with possible their family too and any connections planned are all messed up.
Such incompetence and lies.
Such poor service.
Such a useless service.
Shame on them.
Such a success for private capital!
Where is Quigley when you need him,
surely he ain’t gone AWOL
Not a care about people using the early boats as a commute daily all year! My son has no choice now but to get the 04:30 ferry to be at work for 7am in Southampton! Diabolical service. Get a tunnel it’s the only solution now.
Sadly will never happen, Caulkheads don’t know what a Tunnel is!.
Some will be aware, no doubt, that one of Red Funnels 4 board members is also the force behind Captiva Homes controversial building project in Bembridge, and also (strangely) a member of the IOW Biosphere Steering Committee, a council appointment. I will let others comment on whether these cosy arrangements and concentrations of power are in the interests of the Island and it’s residents.
Also in the ‘lodge’. But guess that is a given
Oh Richard what’s the plan then? Gone a bit quiet
He is probably waiting for a reliable ferry,
let’s hope he doesn’t hold his breath.
Lol
So will Red Funnel contact people who are already booked on the ferries that are being cancelled to advise them of the cancellation and re-book them on another crossing? It should not have to be up to us to try to amend our booking (I am booked on a 9.30 am ferry next Wednesday and have heard nothing from them).
Yet again repair, rather than preventative maintenance. Accountants instead of experienced managers. The dead hand of accountants ringing the death knell for everything in this benighted country.
Alternative? SWIM???
Ah… the winter time table in the middle of summer. Well done red funnel.
