The team behind Shanklin’s House of Spice are celebrating after being awarded a 5-star food hygiene rating.
The popular Indian restaurant gained its top-notch hygiene rating following a visit by the Isle of Wight Council’s Environmental Health team last week (Tuesday 23rd September).
The new rating is the culmination of hard work and investment into the High Street premises following a previous poor inspection, to the tune of around £10,000.
The kitchen has seen new fryers, fridges, and workbenches installed, and upgrades have been made to the main stove.
Owner Abdul Roshik, who purchased the business back in 2016 after visiting the Isle of Wight on holiday, even invites customers into the kitchen to see for themselves the improved standards.
Famous visitors to the House of Spice include comedian Johnny Tait and Olympic Gold Medallist Sir Bradley Wiggins. Closer to home, House of Spice has sponsored local youth football and cricket teams.
Speaking to Island Echo, owner Abdul Roshik has said:
“I want to thank the customers who have stuck with us through thick and thin.”
