The Rotary Club of Shanklin cleared the area around the Big Shell and Wishing Well in the Old Village on Monday as part of the ‘Big Help Out’.
Braving the nasty weather conditions, volunteers cleaned the area up ahead of the impending summer season.
Local residents Lyn and John Fleming donned the royal regalia impersonating King Charles III and Queen Camilla whilst manning a stand in Shanklin Old Village.
While working there, as a gesture of goodwill towards the community, the ‘King and Queen’ offered all passers-by free cakes, buns and drinks, which was a surprise to many.
The foodstuffs were kindly donated by the Co-op store in Shanklin.
