Shanklin Regatta will be relocating in 2024, moving from its traditional spot at the pier apron to the car park at Hope Road – and it will no longer call its beauty pageant ‘Beauty Queens’. In recent years the Regatta has been held each August on the site of the former Shanklin Pier entrance. But organisers have announced that for 2024 the celebrations will be moving to the other end of the Esplanade at what is known as ‘Stink Pot Car Park’.. Don’t fear though… the free family shore sports including tug of war and egg and spoon, to name a few, will take place on Hope Beach with the very kind support from Paul Bailey. However, in response to ‘feedback from visitors’, the format of the Beauty Queens event is changing. It will now be called ‘Princess and Princes’…
This year’s Regatta will take place on Thursday 8th August 2024. Lyn Fleming, Chair of Shanklin Regatta, has said:
“Planning is well underway for the 2024 summer event with some new plans and ideas such as a ‘market street style’ for business and charities to trade from, a ‘food and drink street’ mixed with an entertainment area, with a stage area for the event compare, live music and a number of other Island based talents. “We have also asked for nice weather!”
Trader applications will open on Saturday 17th February at 10:00, with just 5 stalls permitted for food & drink and 25 market street stalls. Applications can be found at https://shanklinregatta.co.uk/traders/.
