Shanklin Voluntary Youth & Community Centre, in partnership with Shanklin Football Club, are celebrating after being presented the prestigious Green Flag Award for maintaining locations around Shanklin. The Island’s High Sheriff Graham Biss BEM DL and Lake Parish Chair Paul Brading handed over the award at Shanklin’s County Ground to Shanklin FC’s John Shannon and Shanklin VYCC’s Paul Harris. Mr Biss said:
“The news that Shanklin FC and VYCC has achieved the accreditation – the international quality mark for parks and green spaces – is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that care for the green space so that everyone can enjoy it”.
Paul Harris added:
“Shanklin FC and VYCC looks after vital green spaces for the community in Shanklin, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. “The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement”.
