Shanklin’s streets sparkled with light, music and colour on Saturday night (9th August) as the town’s illuminated carnival procession brought the week’s celebrations to a glowing finale.
The event followed Wednesday’s grand main procession and saw participants return with spectacular lighting displays, from fairy-lit costumes and glowing props to themed vehicles adorned with hundreds of bulbs. Music and dancing added to the atmosphere, with residents and visitors joining together to enjoy the warm and dry Summer evening.
Organisers have praised the efforts of all those involved, noting that the illuminated procession is a highlight of the Shanklin Carnival calendar and a key part of the wider Isle of Wight carnival season.
The next carnival is Ventnor Main on Wednesday (13th August), moving off at 19:00.

Best night of the year, and no Numpties were parked along
Regent Street.
Shame the carnival waan’t on last night, vehicles were parked
all over the show in Regent Street.
If a fire engine had to attend a call out they would not have got
through.
Try driving from Chubby’s towards the opposite end of
Regent Street in the evening.
It’s a joke, why do we pay our taxes, no one addresses the
problem.
Try walking to get your chips from Chubby a give your body a work out and your mouth a rest?.
Get the stupid B’stards to park correctly!
Are the majority of Islanders numpties when it
comes to parking their vehicles, or are they lazy
B’stards who don’t like to give themselves exercise.
God gave them legs to walk!
It’s about time IW Council got their Civil Enforcement
Officers to do what they are paid to do.
SLAP TICKETS ON THE VEHICLES THAT ARE PARKING
ILLEGALLY
This island is a joke when it comes to traffic law.
The sooner the island gets a man like Mr Khan
running the show the better!
The island lacks discipline.
Calm down man.
This can’t be good for your blood pressure.
