A celebration of creativity, craft and community spirit is set to take place in Cowes this autumn with the launch of a brand new event – The Bees Needles – led by Isle of Wight designer Karen Robb.
The event will be held on Sunday 19th October 2025 at Northwood House, offering visitors the chance to immerse themselves in all things handmade, artistic and imaginative. Entry is free.
Karen, founder of the Karen Robb Sewing Collective based at IOW Pearl, has been teaching sewing and designing fashion since 2009. She says the idea for The Bees Needles came from a desire to bring together the Isle of Wight’s creative community while also welcoming unique makers and small businesses from the mainland.
The event promises a diverse range of experiences including demonstrations, workshops, artisan stalls, talks and hands-on opportunities across a variety of crafts – from sewing and sculpture to blacksmithing and painting.
Northwood House will host the event indoors, providing a larger space than previous events. New features this year include:
- A dedicated chill-out zone for socialising and refreshments
- A private room for workshops offering a more relaxed learning space
- A talk and presentation area tailored to smaller, focused audiences
- An expanded artisan marketplace with fabric, wool and (organisers hope) art supplies
Karen has said she is keen to hear from Islanders about which creative products or suppliers they’d like to see included – especially those not currently available locally.
“We’re really excited to bring everyone together again this October,” she said. “There’s something special about being able to touch and explore creative products in person, and we hope this event will give people the chance to do just that – all while supporting small businesses and sharing in a love for craft.”
