SECOND LEAK IN A WEEK FOR CLARENCE ROAD IN EAST COWES

Just as the residents of East Cowes thought that travel disruption was back at manageable levels, a second water leak has been discovered in Clarence Road.

Southern Water had been working on a burst water main in the same street just days ago – causing Clarence Road (a major part of the current diversion route) to be closed as repairs were made.

This, alongside issues with Red Funnel services, resulted in traffic bedlam within the town as motorists were forced to use Old Road along with other residential streets to try and move around the town.

Councillor Karl Love has taken to Facebook to warn residents of more potential disruption after another water leak along the same stretch of road has been found.

Councillor Cameron Palin has also posted, and told residents that Southern Water have been made aware of the issue and will be seeing to the problem in the next 24 hours.

It is not yet known how much disruption will be caused by any further repair works or if the road will need to be closed once more to facilitate it.

Island Echo has approached Island Roads for information.

It just goes to show that when roads that have been repaired/ resurfaced fail when put under pressure with heavier traffic .
all the roads in East Cowes that were previously done before are now cracking up with all the diversions in place .
why do it once when you can do it 1,2,3,or 4 times
