UPDATED: The National Police Air Support helicopter is circling the skies above Sandown this afternoon (Friday) in the search for a missing woman.
Island Echo understands Police are looking for a 52-year-old female who has gone missing from Yaverland. The woman, who is said to have strawberry blonde hair, was last seen wearing a dressing gown this morning.
UPDATE @ 15:30 – Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor are assisting Police with the search, which is centred on the seaside area of Sandown and Yaverland.
The NPAS helicopter has now left the area having conducted a sweep of Sandown, Brading Marshes, Yaverland and Culver Down.
Coastguard officers are conducting a shoreline search from Yaverland to Culver cliff.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – Police have confirmed they are searching for a Julie Anne Hill, 51, who was last seen at 08:50 this morning at her home in Yaverland Close, Sandown.
Julie has not been in contact with any friends or family, which is said to be very out of character for her. She appears to have left home without any personal belongings.
The missing woman is described as being white, 5ft 6ins tall, with dyed blonde hair, which is slightly shorter than shoulder-length. She was last seen wearing a knee length brown nightdress and may not be wearing any shoes.
WightSAR have been tasked to assist Police and Coastguard with the ongoing search.
UPDATE @ 17:10 – The search continues this evening, with a Police dog unit joining HM Coastguard and WightSAR at Yaverland.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 370.
