Police and volunteers from WightSAR are conducting a search for a high risk missing person in the Niton area of the South Wight this afternoon (Tuesday).
A large number of officers responded to the Rectory Road and Allotment Road area in the village at around 14:20.
It has been confirmed that Police are responding to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man in his 60s. Island Echo is told that he is potentially wearing grey jogging bottoms.
WightSAR – the Island’s voluntary search and rescue organisation – have been called out to assist Police in the search, receiving their tasking at 14:55.
Searches are currently underway in and around the village and along the coastal path with the use of both a local dog unit and a drone.
UPDATE – It is now understood that the missing gentleman has been found safe and well.
