The search for 64-year-old Gillian Burns, who went missing from her home in Bembridge on Sunday night, has entered its 2nd day with teams battling against difficult weather conditions to find her.
Gillian was last seen at her home address in the village of Bembridge at 22:00 on Sunday night. She was reported missing by her husband, who went on to find her bicycle off Peacock Hill, near Culver Down, on Monday morning.
It was at around 10:00 that a major search operation was launched with Police, HM Coastguard and WightSAR descending on the Culver Down area in a bid to locate the 64-year-old. Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat was also launched.
After hours of searching on downland, in amongst woodland and along the coast at the foot of Culver Cliff, nothing has been found.
Those searches are continuing this morning with Coastguard teams back searching along the coastline between Yaverland and Whitecliff Bay.
WightSAR were deployed to search the immediate area around Gillian’s home yesterday evening, but those efforts have also not led to a discovery.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is continuing to appeal for the public’s help in locating Gillian Burns.
Gillian is described as white, 5ft 2in tall with medium-length ginger hair. She is believed to be wearing glasses, dark blue jeans, black trainers and dark blue short-length raincoat.
