Coastguard Rescue Teams, Police and RNLI lifeboats were all involved in the search for a missing jet skier on the Solent this evening (Tuesday).
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked at 17:27 to assist in locating a missing jetskier from Southampton who had been separated from his brother.
One of the duo, also on a jet ski, made it to the shore at Cowes but as darkness fell had lost contact with his brother.
Cowes RNLI and both of Calshot RNLI’s lifeboats conducted a search of The Solent and Southampton Water, where they eventually found the missing jetskier under tow by a fishing vessel en route to the River Itchen.
Lymington CRT also conducted a shoreline search of Calshot before relocating to the River Itchen to check on the welfare of the casualty.
A private RIB escorted the jetskier from the Island back to their home port.
For reasons unknown, Police were heavily involved in the incident.
Needles CRT returned to Station by 22:10.

Out in the Solent in the dark……..no lights on those things. Beggars belief really that some people can be so stupid.
Think a little deeper. Two jet skis in the dark, large Police attendance, when normally we would be luck to see one if needed.
This will be drug running from a ship out in the Solent, but these guys will have a string to cut should them be accosted and so likely an electronic tacker left on the packages to be ‘traced’ by them or their mates, later.
Hardly ‘out’ to enjoy the balmy evenings in November.
Machines should be taken and crushed, houses searched, bank accounts and phones checked, and any ‘partners’ or children’s too.
You could make a film from that plot.
Maybe……nothing would surprise me these days. The island is drastically going down hill fast. Crime and more crime being committed by low life, drugs, drink driving, stabbings….. where will it all end. Only to get much worse once the mass building and housing plans get into full swing. God help the IOW and all who live here!!!!!!!
Not suprised the police were involved, breaking lockdown comes to mind, unless wizzing around on a jet-ski is classed as exercise.
“For reasons unknown” LOL. Drug running. Odds on they will be back out there very soon to pick up the package left floating around/hidden on shore.
Some chav mate will, for they will be watched now, one hopes.
