Police are this evening (Friday) searching for the driver of a silver Ford Fiesta following a reported ‘pursuit’ on Pan Estate in Newport.
Witnesses have described seeing a silver hatchback car – allegedly with young children in – driving erratically on the estate at around 18:20. It is said that the vehicle was being followed by 2 Police cars and even mounted the pavement in an attempt to evade officers.
After dumping the car at Garden Way, the male driver is understood to have fled into nearby woodland prompting a search involving the Dog Support Unit and several other ground units.
The car has now been recovered from the scene. Meanwhile the child, or children, are thought to now be in the care of Police.
The search continues.
