UPDATE – Power has since been restored
Saturday night power cut hits Newport homes leaving residents in complete darkness.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are aware of the fault and are working to restore supplies as soon as possible.
Power went off at 21:47 and hoped to be restored by 00:30 tomorrow (Sunday) morning.
Known streets affected are Hookes Way, Hunnyhill, Worsley Road, Albany Road, Heytesbury Road & Grange Drive.
A spokesperson for SSEN has said:
“We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

No I’m just getting fed up with the excuse we have a fault when it’s not. God help us when we get back to everywhere being open and the power shedding will intensify
