Just 3 years after opening, The Little Dessert Shop in Sandown is up for sale – as travelling is taking its toll on the Midlands-based owners.
The artisan ice cream and dessert parlour opened on the corner of Pier Street and the Esplanade in June 2019 and quickly became a firm favourite for locals and tourists alike. It boasts “a high level of regular and repeat trade along with plenty of new visiting tourists”.
Waffles, crepes, pancakes, cookie dough, sundaes, verrines, ice creams, gelatos, cheesecakes, bakes, patisserie, cakes and shakes are all served, with the option of taking away.
Now, the franchise is up for sale for a cool £125,000 – although potential buyers could rebrand and be independent. The property is leasehold with an annum rent of £18,000, with the potential for a freehold option.
Included in the sale price is all equipment, fixtures & fittings, which is said to be attractive to a new purchaser as additional funds will not be needed.
It’s said that the business would best suit a husband and wife combination, who ideally would live on the Island.
Sadly as inflation hits wallets and purses it will be the unnecessary establishments which fare the worst
Essential outlets can survive and high end businesses too, as they have rich clientele, not affected by watching the pennies.
I expect many of these nice but a little luxury for the masses outlets will be flats filled with the mainland and worlds overspill within three years.
