The Isle of Wight won’t be getting its first Brewers Fayre eatery when Premier Inn opens in Sandown, but instead will be treated to a new nationwide chain called ‘Cookhouse & Pub’.
According to planning documents submitted to the Isle of Wight Council this week, the ground floor of the brand new hotel complex on Sandown Seafront will be a Cookhouse & Pub outlet instead of the previously planned Brewers Fayre.
The Cookhouse and Pub brand was introduced by owners Whitbred Group less than a year ago and has only been rolled out to a select few locations.
Whitbred are aiming to reinvent the pub dining experience, delivering the quality food and service of an all-day casual restaurant with the relaxed vibe and affordability of a pub.
Construction of the hotel and restaurant was supposed to begin back in June, but issues with Guadeloupe Road to the rear has resulted in a delay. Although it still remains unclear when the doors will finally open, today’s news proves a continued commitment to introduce Premier Inn to Sandown on the site of the former Carlton Hotel.
Consent for signage has been requested from 1st June 2019.
