Sandown Carnival – in existence since 1889 – has launched its latest carnival season with the children’s and main carnival processions pencilled in for Saturday 27th July. 7 girls and boys have been chosen as the town’s 2024 Carnival Royalty, and up to £300 is on offer to help people put together an entry in this summer’s parades. Sandown Carnival chair Paul Coueslant has said:
“We’re proud to be one of the Island’s oldest carnivals and can’t wait to get our new season underway in July. We’re always keen to help anyone with a good idea for their parade entry and there’s still time to apply to the fund we make available each year.”
Would-be entrants need to take part in two of the town’s 2024 parades and must apply by 16:00 on Friday 27th May. Anyone can put in an application, with priority given to those in the PO36 postcode area. Application packs can be downloaded at www.sandowncarnival.com/carnival-participation-fund or picked up from Sandown Carnival’s shop at 77a High Street PO36 8AD.
