Sandown Town Mayor Councillor Paddy Lightfoot and Rev Mark Williams have commended pupils from The Bay CE Primary School for their commemorative mug designs which will be distributed to the children at the school for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Cllr Lightfoot said:
“The Children created some imaginative and creative designs, and the winners presented these special mugs to the Earl and Countess of Wessex when they met them during their visit, a moment of a lifetime and the mugs will be a memento of the occasion”.
Rev Williams added:
“The children also designed a Jubilee Flag, which will be flown at Christ Church at our Service of Thanksgiving at 10:00 on Saturday 4th June, and then presented to the school later in June”.
Sandown Town Council has also supported projects with Sandown Green Town Volunteers, the Jubilee Picnic at Browns and exhibitions at Christ Church and the Library, as well as other community events.
Cllr Lightfoot adds:
“The Platinum Jubilee is such a unique occasion, we have tried to support as many events and activities as possible, and would like to thank all those that are helping to ensure the celebrations fittingly mark the occasion – including the memories of when the Queen visited Sandown in 1965”.
