Ryde Inshore Rescue went to the aid of an injured woman on board a motor vessel off Osborne Bay this afternoon (Monday).
Volunteer crew members were tasked to launch the lifeboat by Solent Coastguard at just before 15:00 when it was reported that a female casualty had sustained a back injury whilst out on the Solent.
Ryde Rescue 1 made best speed to the reported position of the vessel before escorting it into Cowes Harbour.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked at 15:31 to rendezvous with the lifeboat crew at Trinity Landing.
Working with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, the casualty was placed on a stretcher and manoeuvred off the vessel and into the ambulance for onward care.
The woman was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport for treatment.
