Ryde Inshore Rescue have assisted yet another vessel with engine troubles off Ryde this evening (Sunday).
After an initial tasking to assist a speedboat on the rocks at the entrance to Ryde Harbour, as previously reported by Island Echo, Ryde Rescue 1 lifeboat was requested by Solent Coastguard to assist a vessel reporting smoke issuing mid-Solent.
After taking the casualty vessel into Portsmouth Harbour, Solent Coastguard tasked the lifeboat once again – this time to assist with a Pan Pan call.
Ryde’s volunteer lifeboat crew made best speed to a boat reporting engine troubles in the Solent.
A tow was established and the vessel was taken into Ryde Harbour, where Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were waiting to assist.
Ryde Rescue launched at around 17:00 and returned to the boathouse at Appley by 19:30.

what’s a pan pan call !
One level down from a mayday. No immediate danger of life but some sort of issue/distress with the vessel or crew.
Is it only complete idiots that are taking to the water at the moment?!
There just not sailors at all.
