In a spectacular evening of youth creativity, talent and imagination, Ryde Academy competed against eight other schools in the 2015 Rock Challenge National Final to take home a fantastic second place.
Only the third of its kind, the Rock Challenge National Final truly radiated proficiency as 800 young people took to the Milton Keynes Theatre stage and overwhelmed the audience with their innovative and inspirational performances. Schools from Aberdeenshire, Angus, Cumbria, Dorset, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, West Sussex and West Yorkshire all took part against the Island’s Ryde Academy.
The Ryde-based school team not only took home second place, but were awarded the Ansvar Insurance Award of Excellence for Choreography and one for Performance Skill. Ryde also were awarded for stage use, concept, drama, soundtrack, set design and function, costuming character, visual enhancement, entertainment, stage crew and video performance.
Be Your Best Foundation Patron, Baroness Ruth Henig presented the award for first place this evening and commented:
“This is the third national final that we have had in the UK and the standard tonight is the highest that I can ever remember, it was absolutely unbelievable!”
